Melina Bekking (born in Pineda de Mar, Spain, in 1984) is a visual artist based in Barcelona, specializing in painting and drawing. Her work focuses on the expressive power of human and animal portraiture, exploring the strength that resides in every gaze and the ability of art to reveal what words often cannot.
Working with oil, acrylic, graphite, and pastel, she creates emotionally charged portraits that invite viewers to pause, connect, and discover the story behind each face. Inspired by the richness of diverse cultures, her work seeks to evoke emotion, foster empathy, and convey resilience through the authenticity of each subject she portrays.
Melina is currently developing Matrescence, a new body of work that explores the transformation of female identity before, during, and after pregnancy. Through this collection, she seeks to raise awareness of the profound emotional and personal evolution that accompanies motherhood, offering an intimate, honest, and empowering perspective on this life-changing journey. Her work has been exhibited at the K-Potassí 19 Gallery in Barcelona (2025), Expometro Barcelona (2025), Expometro Rome (2026), Expometro Madrid (2026), and the Montcada i Reixac Auditorium (2026). For Melina Bekking, art is a universal language that connects cultures, awakens emotions, and reminds us of the strength that exists within every living being.
